Position Highlights

Clinical Responsibilities:

- Engage in quality assurance initiatives (monthly QA with supervising physician)

Job Summary
The APP Administrator leads Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) in a specific region or service line. This ensures APPs perform their roles effectively. The administrator collaborates with Human Resources, the Office of Medical Staff Appointments, division and department heads, and clinic or hospital administration. They help develop and implement policies for APPs in their region or service line. The role includes administrative organization, leadership, mentoring, and committee representation. It also involves selecting APP representatives at the regional or service line level and coordinating educational programs for APPs. The APP in this position will have designated administrative time, not exceeding 60%, as decided by regional/service line administration and the CMO.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Provides patient services under the delegation of supervising physician and/or the designated supervising staff physician.
- Interviews and examines patients to establish each patient's symptoms and prepares patient database to create or update patient files.
- Performs comprehensive examinations and medical screenings. Accurately, clearly, and concisely records complete information in patient records.
- Completes and/or assists in the formulation of diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up plans and/or treatment protocols as appropriate.
- Interprets laboratory data and orders appropriate tests following protocols or delegation. Follows up on patient status and diagnostic tests. Reports relevant information to the supervising physician.
- Communicates clearly with the patient, supervising physician, and caregivers. Shares information that may influence the patient's care or well-being. Prepares clinical progress notes and other required documentation according to policies.
- Provides recommendations to the regional CMO and regional clinic administrative leadership regarding any pertinent APP related issues.
- Promotes appropriate utilization of APPs throughout the region.
- Supports the recruitment, orientation, and departmental onboarding of APPs within the region.
- Partners with other internal departments on issues involving APPs.
- Maintains expertise on regulations and mandates from The Joint Commission and other governing bodies regarding APP practice.
- Oversees processes regarding APP student clinical rotations throughout the region.
Key Success Factors
- Knowledge of Federal and State of Texas laws and legislation pertaining to medical board and nursing board governance of APPs.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission mandates regarding APP practice in hospitals and clinics.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various medical staff and personnel. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules.
- Requires critical skills to gather information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in analyses, and summarize data to solve problems or design complex systems across departments.
- Ability to guide, direct, mentor, train and work collaboratively in a team building environment.
- Knowledge of computer systems, Electronic Health Records, databases, Excel, Word.
- Knowledge of national and state APP issues, preferred dynamic in national and state professional organizations.
- Knowledge of current system and institutional policies, bylaws, and credentialing requirements preferred.
- Demonstrated ability for self-direction and initiation required.
- Five years experience as an APP (PA or APRN) including three years healthcare leadership experience.

- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), Nurse Practitioners (NP), and Physician Assistants (PA) are licensed by the State of Texas as Advanced Practice Professionals.
