Department Overview
The 8th floor is a 17 bed unit located on our Minneapolis Campus. On this unit we care for a wide spectrum of children, ranging from infants to young adults, requiring treatment and management for both acute and chronic conditions from our dedicated care givers for epilepsy/seizure disorders, post-operative neurosurgery care, general medical/surgical care. Our patients have an average length of stay ranging from overnight to several weeks for specialty treatment and care. Patients on the 8th floor are cared for by a cohesive group of inter-disciplinary teams that include child life, social work, epileptologists, neurosurgeons, integrative medicine, dietitians, case managers and other specialists. Our team prides ourselves on teamwork, quality care, open and respectful communication, and promotes a culture of safety while also encouraging learning and professional growth. Position Summary
Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members.
