ChristianaCare is hiring for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our School Based Health Center 24 hours/week x 52 weeks at Baltz Elementary School located at 1500 Spruce Ave Wilmington, DE. This position is available immediately.

The selected candidate provides physical examinations, health screenings, treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, immunizations, reproductive health, and health education to elementary school-age students and works closely with the school nurse to treat students and keep them in school. The APC works with a multidisciplinary staff at the center to address critical issues that teens face guiding them towards productive and healthy lives and in doing so improving the health of our communities. To optimally serve the school community, a bilingual candidate is preferred.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides preventive and acute health care to the school-age population.

Maintains a collaborative agreement with the Medical Director and consults and refers as necessary.

Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to assess, diagnose and treat a school-age patient.

Prescribes medications and treatments independently as credentialed by the Joint Practice Committee of Delaware Board of Medicine.

Provides clinical screening for risk taking behavior and mental health issues and directs services as appropriate.

Collaborates plan of care with the primary care provider as necessary.

Provides care management for individual student as necessary.

Sees 8-10 students per day when school is in session.

Maintains medical records according to HIPPA guidelines and third-party billing guidelines.

Maintains medical equipment and supplies including ordering supplies, monitoring refrigerator temperature, performing equipment checks, monitoring medication expiration dates, maintaining logs.

Responsible for transport of lab specimens to State Lab, track labs and treat and manage patients accordingly.

Follows ChristianaCare Chaperone Policy- Outpatient.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Nursing with Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner or Master's degree in PA studies.

Experience with school-age population preferred

Bilingual candidate preferred

Licensed or eligible for license in the state of Delaware

Prescriptive authority

Valid driver's license required
