Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Authority/Decision Making Level: Takes appropriate clinical actions using available resources, to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors, and staff. Independently prioritizes daily tasks and assignments. Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement in order to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes. Responds to urgent and unplanned situations appropriately.
- Problem Solving: Capable of making decisions to ensure patient safety and promote quality patient care.
- Information Management: Utilizes computer systems as required.
- Working Conditions: Works in a typical ambulatory care environment where there are limited physical discomforts due to temperature, dust, noise, lighting, etc. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed. Work requires ability to stand, stoop, bend walk and sit. assist patients for transportation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform Assessments of Health Status: obtain relevant health history, perform screening evaluations in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Participate in diagnosis of health status, develop plans of care and implementations of treatment.
- Outpatient Office Responsibilities include coordination of care of patients, ordering tests, coordinating specialty referrals.
- Document in the medical record; office notes, and discharge summaries for distribution to collaborating and referring physicians.
- Employ a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and work collaboratively with other disciplines throughout the system.
- Participate in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Participate as required in Department meetings and special projects.
- Additional activities as outlined in the PA/physician agreement.
- Other duties as assigned: For example: on-call duties as required by department, have an office schedule to assess/treat patients, review and address physician in-baskets, respond to patient calls regarding medical concerns, etc.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
- Master's Degree from accredited Physician Assistant Program
License/Certifications:
- PA License in NJ required
Relevant Experience:
- 1+ year of experience in a PA role strongly preferred
