VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System has an immediate career opportunity available. We are currently seeking a Gynecologist to support our Women's Health Program. Travel to Marion VAMC and St. Joseph County Health Clinic in Mishawaka, Indiana in support of Gynecology / Women's Health will be required. The selected candidate will follow established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Veterans Affairs, their assigned station(s) and the profession. The specific duties of the position will be determined by the Gynecologist's Scope of Practice and will be discussed at the time of interview. Assigned Scope of Practice: Physician - Gynecologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: The Gynecologist assures the provision of high quality and safe patient care both in and outside the operating room. Clinical assessment of management of patients in Gynecology Clinics and Emergency room Performs Gynecology procedures in the outpatient clinic and inpatient surgery procedures based on standard complexity facility Initial evaluation and overall workup, H&P, and admission of GYN surgery patients Informs Veterans to the risks as well as benefits of upcoming surgical procedures Enters notes electronically in a paperless medical record system Provision of appropriate post-operative care Management of patients in the emergency department, inpatient units, medical imaging departments, and ICU Provides occasional consultative services to other service providers for inpatients and outpatients Works effectively with patients and coworkers Treats Veterans, Veteran's family members, and other healthcare professionals with respect and dignity Supervision of Advanced Practice Nurses, Physician Assistants (mid-levels) and other staff as required Participation in peer review and quality improvement activities is required to ensure quality of patient care consistent with VA regulations and Joint Commission standards Understands and abides by the Medical Bylaws of this facility Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery Supports Women's Health Program Provides education regarding Women's Health to Primary Care Providers Work Schedule: M-F 7:30am - 4pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
